Producer Intern - Director Intern - Production Assistant - Social Media Intern
Producer Intern
Book Talk | Short Film | New York (Hybrid) | Starting April 2026
We're looking for a motivated Producer Intern to support our producer Elle Xing in the lead-up to and during production of Book Talk, a SAG short film adapted from an original story by R. F. Kuang.
You'll get hands-on experience across the full production pipeline — from pre-production logistics and vendor coordination to on-set support and post-production wrap. This is a real behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to produce an independent short film from the ground up.
This role comes with a small honorarium. We believe in compensating our collaborators, and while we're working within the constraints of an independent production, we want to recognize your time and contribution.
You might be a fit if you:
Are pursuing or have recently completed a degree in film, media production, or a related field
Are highly organized and thrive in fast-moving environments
Have strong written and verbal communication skills
Are eager to learn the business and logistics side of independent filmmaking
Have an interest in stories that center underrepresented voices
You'll support with:
Scheduling, logistics, and production coordination
Vendor and location research
Budget tracking and administrative support
On-set production support during the June 5–8 shoot in New York City

We're looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Production Assistant to support the Book Talk crew during production. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to experience on-set filmmaking firsthand on a SAG short film in New York City.
This role comes with a small honorarium. We believe in compensating our collaborators, and while we're working within the constraints of an independent production, we want to recognize your time and contribution.
You might be a fit if you:
Are eager to break into the film industry and experience it hands-on
Are a strong communicator who can take direction quickly
Are available in person in New York City June 5–8
Have some familiarity with on-set protocol (preferred but not required)
You'll support with:
General on-set support across departments as needed
Equipment and supply runs
Talent and crew coordination on the day
Keeping the set running smoothly
Social Media Intern
Book Talk | Short Film | New York City (On-Set June 5–8) + Remote
We're looking for a creative, story-driven Social Media Intern to help build the online presence of Book Talk — a SAG short film adapted from an original story by R. F. Kuang, directed by Grace Sun. This is a unique opportunity to learn the art of marketing an independent short film from the ground up, from building anticipation during production to navigating the festival circuit.
This role comes with a small honorarium. We believe in compensating our collaborators, and while we're working within the constraints of an independent production, we want to recognize your time and contribution.
You might be a fit if you:
Have a strong instinct for what pops on social — you understand the platforms intuitively and stay ahead of trends
Are skilled in mobile-first video editing (CapCut, Instagram, TikTok, or similar)
Are passionate about independent film and underrepresented voices in media
Are self-directed and comfortable working with a small remote team
Are interested in the intersection of film, literary culture, and marketing
You'll support with:
Developing and executing social media content across platforms
Capturing and editing behind-the-scenes content on set in New York City June 5–8
Building community and engagement around the film
Learning how independent films build their audience before, during, and after the festival run
